A DISCERNING MIND
“Give me an understanding mind so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong.” 1 Kings 3:9, NLT
A discerning mind is the product of the heart.
The heart is directly fed through the senses of a human. Whatever is translated and interpreted through the senses affects the heart.
The affection of one’s mind determines a person’s line of actions and dreams. In other words, what we really desire is what develops in our mind to either make us discerning and conscientious or having no room for godly discernment. An understanding heart is what gives wisdom(Proverbs 24:1-9). Solomon never asked God to come down and rule the people for him. But he asked for what was needed to accomplish his task–wisdom. God does not promise riches and long life to those who follow Him, but He gives us all these as addition when we put His kingdom, His interest and His principles first (Matthew 6:31-33).The heart is directly fed through the senses of a human. Whatever is translated and interpreted through the senses affects the heart.
Wisdom is the ability to discern what is best and the strength of character to act upon that knowledge. |
While Solomon was known for wisdom, he never walked in it in his household. You should get and use wisdom.
